Wimped out

To be the first of the new ULTRA Editions

Wimped out

Postby insx » Sun Jan 14, 2018 4:50 pm

After 20 years of trying to get to The End of Time, I finally gave in and made my settings a tad easier, mostly just by changing the time drive difficulty. I finished Dawn of Time on my first go and I finally feel like I've got a chance to get to the ultimate wizard mode. I've always resisted changing from factory settings before but I guess it's time.

What do you think? Is Timeshock too hard or are you one of those people who can play the game for 8 hours and complete the crystal multiple times?

Well, I'm more of a casual player.
I don't even focus on beating the table... I'm usually too busy keeping my ball out of the drains, when I do activate a timewarp, I usually opt to stay in the present because I haven't gotten all of the continents there.

I guess I'm not really the type of player to answer your question... but it's nice to see ANY new posts here -- I half expect these boards (and the site) to disappear entirely soon. The domain registration expires June 14th of this year. If the company is broke, I don't expect a renewal of the site.

This seems to me to be as good a place as any to discuss these games. We will see what happens in June though :?

Timeshock may be too hard, but that is also the appeal for me. I've been playing the game for 20 years now and it feels like I can still discover new things when I've played it another 20 years.
I just love its complexity.

Looks like Silverball Studios just bought this domain.
They are now the registrant of pro-pinball.com

I'll just say my goodbye's to you fine folks now.

Wouldn't it be a good thing Silverball Studios bought the domain?

On topic, my timing got much better when I bought a mechanical keyboard which in turn improved my aiming. The only downside is that I used to have a key right of my RShift which I used for Magnosave. I can't find a good replacement for it. I'm now actually entertaining the idea of getting an USB foot switch.

I can just reach the Dawn of Time multiball after some practise but I don't play that often.

I always liked Backspace for the Magnosave...

It's just a matter of personal preference. Ideally I'd like to have my index fingers on the push buttons, my middle fingers on the flippers (shift buttons) and my ring finger on the Magnosave so I don't have to take a finger of the flipper or push button to activate Magnosave. To reach backspace I would have to give up the flipper and push button for a moment.

Right now I have Magnosave left of my right push. It should be fine but whenever I need it, I need a moment to remember where it is.

It seems silly to get a foot switch for that but I have another game that could benefit from it: a shooter where you have to keep a button pressed to keep running and two buttons to sprint.

Last night I looked on YouTube and found a recorded game of someone being able to select End of Time right after completing Timeshock Frenzy. I thought you had to recollect all the crystals first so I never bothered to collect all tachyonium pieces until after Timeshock Frenzy.

https://youtu.be/l3u3IZZIJr0

Three weeks ago I've build a new pc with win10 which has a simple video record function. Win+Alt+R to start/stop recording. Videos are saved in C:\Users\<User>\Videos\Captures. My current recorded best is 4,547,186,820. Let's see if I can record reaching End of Time or just a respectable hiscore :)

Edit:
I just did it, End of Time on factory settings! I'll upload it to youtube later :)
