which loudspeakers are you using? did you hide more inside the cab like for mechanical sounds?

I just de-cased some old mains powered PC speakers, they are not too bad. I have not gone for sound in the cabinet. I also kept a headphone socket at the back.

decased - is there any (noticable) sound difference (with case/without) ?
When I look at mine they seem to be modeled to provide a good resonance body - that removed makes me think of a degrade in sound quality. But I could imagine the backbox works in that regard. Did you separate the speakers inside the backbox or are they sharing the same hollow body ?
a headphonesocket ... I havn't considered that.

There's no discernible difference to me but these speakers just came out of plastic boxes, it may have even improved things. I am no audiophile though. The speakers are separate and just screwed to the panel.
