Banding effect on DMD

Postby ndcoten » Sat Jan 31, 2015 5:56 am

i've been playing on my iPod Touch 5th gen, and I've noticed that there are some significant bands in the DMD picture. (but not in its reflection, strangely!) it's making it hard to read the info on the display, and Video Mode is very confusing and hard to play like this unless someone has memorized the object patterns.

could that display be made more clear?
try going around!

Yep, I've got the same issue on my iPod Touch 5. It's not a big problem, but it will be a lot nicer once it's fixed. I've already gotten pretty used to video mode like that though!

I've got it on my iPhone 5, but not on my iPad Air 2. Weird.

A friend's iPhone 6 doesn't have the banding either!

The banding is worst on the iPhone 5 but does affect the iPhone 4 and 4s too, and others to a lesser extent.

We have a fix for this in testing at the moment and should be submitting an update to the App Store in the next day or two.

Sounds like an issue with how the DMD dots are being scaled across different devices and their different screen aspect rations. Glad to hear a fix is in the works.
