Totally frivolous feature request thread

Postby Alex » Sun Oct 13, 2013 7:01 am

I made a really serious feature ask, but I think it'd be nice to have a thread about unreasonable things we'd like to see in the Timeshock! reboot. I'll go first.

Last time I listened to DJ Dain's unbelievable Black Knight 2000/Kanye mash-up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybU4wsGHbyQ), I realized what was most wrong with Timeshock. The pre-recorded soundtrack and its live instruments and contemporary synths clashes with the Doug Watson-inspired playfield and the over-the-top production.

Timeshock needs its soundtrack remade in full System 11 glory. I know, the whole chiptune/demake thing was the deadest of dead horses years ago, but by God it would be perfect. Where do I send money?

Modern video game comforts should be shameless ripped off from PinballFX2:

e.g.
- possibility to choose dot matrix size, color and position. (I want it small, pink and low right)
- adjustable score number pop animation on the play-field during game as an option

Engineering drawings/3D print files for the playfield components.

Option to save and resume. To make it feasable, saving should only become available, when the ball is in a safe position (i.e. to be launched or held by a flipper). Obviously this needs to be a game mode by itself, scince it would clash with the spirit of the classic stay-and-play-or-go-and-die-modes ;)

But there's a difference with 'save and resume' in that you can keep loading and saving your game until you have a superb score.

Pinball games shouldn't really need a save system, but if there really was one, it should be like in roguelike games; you can only save when you quit, load when you resume the game from main menu and when you you get a game over, the save file gets automatically deleted.

That would just lead to 'save-scumming'.
