Unable to download graphics

Got the link to dl the Windows V1 a few days ago. Firstly I had a hell of a time trying to download the setup file as it kept stalling. I eventually had to install a specialised downlaod manager. Anyway after installation of Timeshock Ultra I hit start and it starts to download more graphics. Problem is it stalls every time. The furthest it has got is about 85% but usually it doesnt get past 20%. Why is this happening?

Sorry you're having problems with downloading. The files are hosted on amazon's servers so I don't know why you would be getting a poor connection. We'll look into adding support for resuming failed downloads, but in the meantime, you can download the graphics and install them manually for a quick fix.

Download the file for the vertical resolution you want, which is the first of the two numbers in the file name:

Unzip the file into the game's graphics data directory, which for Windows XP is

Code: Select all
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\ProPinball\timeshock\high

or for Vista and later

Code: Select all
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\ProPinball\timeshock\high

That should mean, if you downloaded, you have a directory 1080_1200 in the ...\ProPinball\timeshock\high directory, and the 1080_1200 directory contains the directories 'hdr', 'ldr' and 'textures'. The final step is to create a file called 'installed' inside the 1080_1200 directory. This can be an empty file, only the name matters. When you next run the game, if 1080 is selected as the vertical resolution in the settings screen, it should start loading when you click Play.

It works, however the data listed above is only for one of the five views, the "high" view. You have to exit the game and restart it to detect the files.
You may start the download for each of the views ingame and cancel the download shortly thereafter then you will see which view has which directory and file names.
The high view is the one with the display/loadspeaker box on top of the pinball seen from the high perspective.
There is also
... high_no_backbox
... medium
... medium_with_backbox
... low
I found that reducing the detail level gave me more fluid gameplay than lowering the resolution, so I play in 1080 with low detail on the late 2009 iMac (Core 2 duo 2.3 Mhz, NVidea 9400 graphics).
I have not yet tried it on my i7 Gforce 560 PC yet, but by knowing the directories I should be able to avoid redownloading all the graphics.
On android with Galaxy Note2 I had no speed problems. I hope controller support will come for all platforms soon, and I still miss my operator's manual pdf download promised in the pledge.
Note: Resuming downloads works similar as with firefox in the current version leaving a .part file if interrupted and the speed depends on the time of the day. Today had 100kb/s during european day time and max speed at 1am (DSL 6000).

I've never had a problem downloading the graphics but I do have 100Mbps fibre broadband. I would guess that this is to do with connection reliability.
