What are your favorite pinball simulation games?

Postby pcraenme » Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:03 pm

Of course everyone on this forum is a big fan of Pro Pinball. :D But... what other pinball simulations are you playing and how would you rank these? Maybe some people are playing simulations, other people have not heard about, which could be real gems.

My personal top 7 would be:
1. Pro Pinball (PC)
2. The Pinball Arcade (iOS, PS3, still waiting on a PC release)
3. Future Pinball (using 2.5/2.6/Zedpinball physics) (PC)
4. Zen Pinball (iOS) / Zen Pinball 2(PS3) / Pinball FX2 (PC)
5. Visual Pinball (PC)
6. Zaccari Pinball (iOS)
7. Age of Pinballs (iOS)

The quality of tables for each of these simulations can be quite different. E.g. There are very good Future Pinball tables and some not quite as good. In my list I only took the best tables per pinball simulation into consideration, because they really show what is possible on that particular simulation.

I play only on PC and apart from that my list would exactly look like yours.

I loved Tilt! on PC. My very first pinball game I ever played. But then ProPinball showed up :o

Your list is similar as mine.

1. ProPinball
2. Pinball Arcade on iOS
3. ZenPinball
4. Pinball Dreams & Fantasies (these games brought me into pinball and can and will never be forgotten - AMIGA times, these were great, yeah - and the iOS iterations of these 2 are great fun, too - so the fun continues)

And all following places are again won by:

ProPinball forever! Original, Ultra, whatever... simply genius. And nothing comes over that. Period!

Just my feeling

They also exist as Future Pinball recreations.

Yeah, I have these installed here, too. But what I'm most happy about is, that now ProPinball comes to the iPad. This is the absolute best device for pinball, simply because I can have it with me everywhere, play in bed, on vacation anytime I want to. And that is, why I play much more often PD and PF on the Pad, than on the PC.

But you are right, the FuturePinball versions are great fun, too. Thanks for the hint. If I wouldn't already have known this, I would be thankfull for the hint. So it is an interesting hint for anyone here, that is not aware of this fact.

For PC:

1. Pro Pinball - most realistic physics, deep table rules -> cult
2. Future Pinball (optimized for physics 2.6) - best pinball simulator/editor -> to completely drown in pinball for free
3. Pinball FX2 - best casual flipper video game -> the most beautiful

4. Pinball Arcade (prospective) - a commercial Future Pinball without editor

Have you tried Zedpinball physics with the adjusted Big Bang Bar table already? I think that is even better than 2.6 physics and uses a customised opengl library for extra lighting effects.
