I wrote an email last Monday and got a response on Tuesday. According to that, they're still alive and working on the rewards.

Sounds like the email I got six months ago. At least you got a reply.

For what it's worth, I sent them an email too and got the following response:

Apologies for the recent silence. We are still working on the physical rewards and will post an update once we have some concrete news.

I’m very sorry the project hasn’t been handled well and that things have taken so much longer than I ever imagined.

I think this is just about all we're gonna get out of them. At least if they informed us, we might be able to help with whatever problem(s) they're having. What more could they possibly have to work on? Plenty of Kickstarters have offered big boxes and other assorted accoutrements in the past - hell, it might even be worth getting in touch with IndieBox or Special Reserve Games to help out in that regard. If it's the keyrings, well, I wouldn't know what to do about that, but it should really have been planned in advance. T-shirts, on the other hand, are super easy.

It sounds defeatist, but I've pretty much ruled out the possibility of getting revamped physics or the remastered soundtrack. You'd think the digital stuff would be easier - again, the soundtrack could easily be handled by someone like Andrew Hulshult of The New Bloods.

'Course, the real answer could be that they're scraping together some more dough because they didn't ask for enough on the Kickstarter.

Interesting reply. What I don't understand is why such a reply can't be posted on this forum, the Kickstarter page and the Steam Community to keep people from guessing.

Was there a promise of a remastered soundtrack? I either missed or forgot that.

I'm still hoping they eventually return with a physics update and the next installment in the ProPinball Ultra series.

I think they might have underestimated the effort for the actual game development and ran out of money at the end.
So for me it would be ok to just drop the physical backer stuff and instead use whatever is left of the money for the future development. I mean, especially for the mobile devices it is mandatory to release updates on a more or less regular basis because otherwise the game will not run anymore one day – either because of newly released devices or because of some new iOS / Android versions.

But that's just my 2 cents. I also don't understand why no one of barnstorm games is posting an offiical status update here on the board...

Agreed. Much as I would like my boxed copy, I would prefer more game development if I had to choose.

There was indeed the promise of a remastered soundtrack. I was looking forward to that personally...
