And you may wait.

I cannot launch the game atm. The installer seems to be stuck in limbos.

OK. the installer is not fond of windows 10. You must set compatibility to win7/win8.

EDIT 2 :

I managed to install the game but I can't start it.

Config Windows 10 x64, gtx 970, 8 gb ram.

Works on my Windows10 Home!
Just had to stop my antivirus-soft for the first start (because it tested the exe and took too much time, so there was an error-message first)

HAAAAA! Played my first ball a minute ago! 8-)
I love my PC... Max settings with no problems! Runs perfectly!
(Win10 Home, 64bit, Intel i7-2600K, GTX 970, 12 MB Ram) @ 1920x1200

Tip: Press F11 to start fullscreen mode!!

We definately need more views and cab-support!

Have to go now... HAVE TO PLAY PINBALL!!!!!

Thank you Ade and team!

Personally, I don't need more views. But I find the fact that the ball doesn't have any motion blur quite distracting. Considering that the old games already offered motion blur for the ball (and even settings for it), I find it surprising that that's not there.

I hope they'll take care of both issues though, I'm not that egotistical. ;)

And of course the physics feel very wonky. Fortunately, they already announced that those would still be changed.

I wouldn't call it a version ready to be released but for a first preview, it's certainly looking pretty good.

Hm, my real pinball machine also does not have motion blur effects...

It's very funny that this version with old physics plays exactly like the 1997-version...

Errr....there is no exit-button, am I wrong?! You can only kill the game by ALT-F4.

Cool!
As you can see in my attachment it is already possible to play timeshock in portrait mode (1080x1920). You have to choose vertical resolution 1920 to get FullHD.
It works and you see much more details.... so next step: I'll try this config on my cab! Just installing...

Is there a way to change the directory to where the game downloads the vertical resolution data (the stuff it downloads when starting the game)?

I've installed the game to drive F but the game downloads the resolution data to C on which I don't have much space left.

Last posting for today... THEN I'M DEFINATELY GONE!!! I have to get a highscore!

I just installed Timehock Ultra on my Virtual PinCab.
Settings see last posting (1080x1920).

IT WORKS!!!! And it looks great!

Well it is not "really" supported because there is no translite now, there is no Real-DMD-support now, there is no ledwiz-support now... but it is better than playing on a pc-screen in landscape mode.... I love it! And I cannot wait until "real" cab-support!

Thanx a lot!

apparently the resolution data actually used resides not in
[InstallationPath]\Pro Pinball Ultra\gfx\timeshock but
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\ProPinball\timeshock\high

as always you can create symbolic links to move that folder to another physical location

this could look like this:
Code: Select all
mklink /J "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\ProPinball\timeshock\high" "F:\timeshockdata\high"

for reference: technet.microsoft.com howtogeek.com

also delete all the textures in resolutions you are not actively using 1080 is about 1.7GB, 2560 already 6 GB uncompressed.

If you really need some space you might want to enable windows NTFS compression. If you have enough memory and a SSD this is probably still faster than reading files from a HDD. In my test compression on the 2560 textures it shrunk the folder size on disk by about 50% or 3GB.

For determining space requirements, in this JSON respone is what the server says it has to offer in terms of texture packs:

{"name":"768_854","download_bytes":317133367,"install_bytes":999751680},
{"name":"800_890","download_bytes":341774279,"install_bytes":1077821440},
{"name":"900_1000","download_bytes":409463122,"install_bytes":1282146304},
{"name":"1024_1138","download_bytes":509038817,"install_bytes":1588543488},
{"name":"1050_1168","download_bytes":527865042,"install_bytes":1647398912},
{"name":"1080_1200","download_bytes":556456060,"install_bytes":1724342272},
{"name":"1200_1334","download_bytes":665073153,"install_bytes":2045448192},
{"name":"1440_1600","download_bytes":908931666,"install_bytes":2803884032},
{"name":"1920_1920","download_bytes":1263420278,"install_bytes":3796852736},
{"name":"2160_2402","download_bytes":1904627215,"install_bytes":5796261888},
{"name":"2560_2560","download_bytes":2110324031,"install_bytes":6434717696}

Also be aware that before being able to install textures in that resolution you need to have a free disk space of the compressed file plus the uncompressed size. So for portrait screen mode in 1920 that is about 5 GB (1263420278 bytes plus 3796852736 bytes).

Haven't figured out a way to manually download and place those texture packs into the folder, since then in game download does not resume but restarts partial downloads, this might be necessary for some people. Even if you extract them in the "high" textures folder, it still tries to download the packages via the game itself. Most likely those flags are stored in timeshock_game.dat in a binary format.

But the download URLs look something like this:
up to
-http://download.pro-pinball.com/ultra/gfx/timeshock/high/2560_2560.zip
